Will petrol and diesel be brought under GST? The GST Council meeting on May 28th.

The GST Council meeting will be held on May 28 as the Corona Second Wave merges in the country. He is interested in the decisions to be taken at the GST Council meeting to be held after a long time. In the wake of the Corona Second Wave, there is a campaign to reduce or completely waive GST on covid vaccines as well as Covid-related medicines, medical-grade oxygen, oxygen concentrators, pulse oximeters, covid-19 testing kits, and other devices.

In addition, with the huge increase in petrol and diesel prices, the demand for bringing these under GST has been heard for days. Opposition leaders have said that the introduction of GST on petroleum products could lead to a sharp fall in prices. However, government sources said there was no proposal to bring jet fuel, natural gas, petrol, diesel, and other petroleum products used in aircraft under GST. Government sources said the government would take a decision in this regard in due course and there was no such proposal at present.

Government sources said the government has no plans to reduce or waive the current GST of 5 percent on Covid vaccines. The 5 percent GST on vaccines is likely to remain unchanged. It is also reported that the current 12 percent GST on Covid Medicines, medical-grade oxygen, oxygen concentrators, and pulse oximeters will be reduced to 5 percent. Also, there seems to be no possibility of reducing GST on masks, sanitizers, ventilators, PPE kits.
