Test match between India Women and England Women: Indian Team played its first Test in 2014.
In the only Test match between India and England, which started on Wednesday, Beaumont (66) scored a half-century while Pooja and Sneha bowled brilliantly. After playing the first Test in 2014, the Indian girls got the chance to play another Test for years. England won the toss and elected to bat first in the lone Test at the local county ground on Wednesday. Lauren-Beaumont put together a 69-run partnership for the first wicket. Captain Knight-Beaumont, she then added 71 for the second wicket stand. In the process, she was knocked out by a friendly ball.
By the time of the latest news, England had scored 222 for 2 in 70 overs. Captain Knight (81 not out) added a half-century and Skiver (31) excelled in batting. After the toss, captain Mithali raj said that young cricketer Shafali Verma, she would make a test debut with this match and that it was yet to be decided whether she should be replaced. Adding that Mithali said, she would bat first if won the toss.
She said that with three pacers and two spinners, Team India will be in the ring and it will be a challenge for them to play Tests again after so many years and the seniors in the team are guiding the young players. As part of the England tour, Team India will face England in three ODIs and three T20I series, including the only Test. Also, Mithali Sena will face Australia in the Pink Test in September.
