The Department of Labor said it would soon launch a special portal for this. It said migrant workers were unable to get vaccinated due to a lack of labor employer guidelines and a shortage of vaccines. Authorities found that more than 40 percent of migrant workers went to their hometowns for vaccination after the second wave.
However, immigrants in the city and workers working in other districts can register for the vaccine through a new portal soon launched by the government, the labor ministry said. Telangana Labor Department officials and concerned employers should help them during registration, said Telangana Labor Department Joint Commissioner Gangadhar.
He said the data would help migrant workers to register their names, state name’s and Aadhaar details on the portal, implement various state and central government schemes for workers, and liaise with the Telangana State Social Security Board for their unorganized workers. However, officials said that workers who have been vaccinated with the first vaccine can register for the second vaccination on the portal.
