For the first time in the country. Oxygen in warplanes to Telangana: For the first time in the country, the Telangana state government is using warplanes for oxygen supply. The warplanes, carrying oxygen tankers, departed from Begumpet Airport for Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, this morning. The warplanes will carry 14.5 metric tons of oxygen from Bhubaneswar to Hyderabad in 8 tanks.
IT and Municipal Minister KTR congratulated Health Minister E. Rajender and Somesh Kumar for closely monitoring the process. The Telangana government is using warplanes for the first time in the country to bring oxygen to the state immediately. In addition to the three-day break, KTR tweeted that the effort would help save many precious lives.
The state has been consuming 260 metric tons of oxygen for three to four days, Not enough though. At the request of the state government, the central government has allocated 360 metric tons of oxygen to the state. Up to 70 tonnes of what the Center has said it will allocate is from small oxygen plants already available in our state.
The remaining oxygen was to be taken from Bellary, Bhilai, Angul (Odisha), Perambudur. Only 20 metric tonnes have been allotted to Telangana from the Bellary steel plant, which is closest to Telangana. Almost the same was allotted from Vizag. Bringing oxygen from Bhilai, Perambudur, Angul is not easy. The state utilizes air services as part of precautionary measures before it takes at least three days for oxygen to arrive from the area.
