Narada case in Bengal: Four leaders, including two ministers, shifted to jail, two hospitalized with illness:
The ‘severity of the Narada case in Bengal still not settled. The most dramatic developments have taken place in Kolkata since last night. Authorities rushed four people, including two ministers, to jail around 4 a.m. this morning. The other two ministers Shifted to jail. The CBI special court yesterday granted bail to them in the case but the CBI moved the Calcutta High Court challenging it.
The High Court stayed his bail. As a result, they were arrested again by the CBI and sent to jail. Ministers Subrata Mukherjee, Firhad Hakim, Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra, and former party leader Sovan Chatterjee were shifted to the Presidency Correctional Home this morning.
Madan Mitra and Sovan Chatterjee were rushed to a hospital around 4 am this morning after being told that they were not breathing properly. Subrata Mukherjee was also taken for a medical check-up and sent back to jail. CM Mamata Banerjee stayed in the CBI office for about six hours yesterday to protest their arrest. They sat in a dharna at one stage demanding their release. She challenged him to be arrested as well.
Speaking to media at the CBI office, Madan Mitra questioned why the Suvendu officer, Mukul Roy, was also not arrested. Their names were also leaked during the Narada sting operation. Suvendu Adhikari and Mukul Roy are both currently in the BJP. Sovan Mukherjee was outraged that he was no longer a bandit and had entered his bedroom and arrested him. Bogota, a leader of 13 leaders, came to light during the Narada sting operation in 2016.
