Lockdown extension in Kerala by Pinarayi Vijayan:
Despite the lockdown in Kerala, a large number of cases are being registered. With this, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan decided for a Lockdown extension in Kerala once again. Lockdown from the 8th to the 16th of this month to curb the second wave. However, it has been extended again till the 23rd of this month. Pinarayi Vijayan has announced that the lockdown imposed on Corona will be extended once again till the 30th of this month. He was sworn in as CM for the second time and reviewed the corona situation for the first time since taking office. Health Minister Veena George also took part in the review.
Pinarayi Vijayan said the triple lock-down in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, and Thrissur districts would be lifted from today as the positivity rate and active cases have dropped significantly. However, the triple lockdown continues in the Malappuram district. He called on the people to expel the corona as harshly and radically as it did in the early days. People were asked to cooperate in the lockdown.
In the last 24 hours, 32,762 cases were reported in Kerala. For the first time, the death toll has crossed one hundred. 112 corona patients died. Government sources said the positivity rate in Kerala was 23.31 percent. So far 6994 people have died of Covid in the state. 19,79,919 people recovered from the corona. There are currently 3,06,346 active covid cases in the state. The government said 1,33,558 people had been tested in the past 24 hours.
