Khel Ratna Awards for Indian Cricketers:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has nominated Indian women’s Test and ODI captain Mithali Raj and senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for the Rajiv Khel Ratna Awards, India’s highest sporting award. Senior batsman Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah have been nominated for the Arjuna Award. Dhawan was also nominated last year but was eventually sidelined by the awards committee. Mithali, 38, from Hyderabad, she has recently completed 22 years in international cricket. She has represented India in 11 Tests (669 runs), 215 ODIs (7,170 runs), and 89 T20I matches (2,364 runs). Along with Mithali, Ashwin has already bagged the ‘Arjuna’ award. The 34-year-old Ashwin took 413 wickets in 79 Tests, 150 wickets in 111 ODIs, and 52 wickets in 46 T20 matches.

Telugu girl, Meti Archer Vennam Jyothi Surekha is also on the list of ‘Rajiv Khel Ratna’. The Archery Association of India recognized Surekha’s talent and recommended him for the highest sporting award. The 24-year-old Surekha, who competes in the compound category, has won a total of 12 medals at the World Cup and World Championships combined.
