Government announces complete lockdown in Tamil Nadu to stop the covid spread:
A complete lock-down will be imposed for 14 days in Tamil Nadu to stop the spread of covid-19 infection in the state. The Tamil Nadu government has decided to impose a complete lockdown in the state from May 10 to May 24 as the number of covid-19 cases has increased in the last few days.
Announcing a lockdown in Tamil Nadu, the government said the decision to shut down was due to “unavoidable circumstances” in the state due to the rise in Covid-19 cases. The lock-down announcement was one of the first major decisions taken by Chief Minister MK Stalin after he was sworn in on Friday.

Vegetables, meat, fish shops, makeshift stalls are only allowed to operate until 12 noon. All other shops will be closed.
Government-owned liquor shops in Tamil Nadu will be closed during a 14-day full lockdown. Only takeaway services are allowed to open restaurants.

Petrol, diesel, and banks are open during the lockdown.
During the full lockdown from Monday, May 10, all stores will be allowed to remain open Saturday and Sunday from 6 to 9 a.m. to prepare for a two-week full lockdown.
Tamil Nadu is one of the top five states in India with the highest number of daily Covid-19 cases. In the last 24 hours, 26,465 Covid-19 cases were reported in Tamil Nadu.
