According to police, a 20-year-old man fell into a well while trying to take a selfie in a village in Vaniyambadi in the Tirupati district.
K Sanjeev from China Mottur in Vaniyambadi went to the farm near his house in the afternoon. He climbed on a tractor and took a selfie and shared it with friends on his mobile phone. His friends who saw it commented that the selfie was very good.
With this Sanjeev started trying to take some more selfies. He climbed on the tractor, started it, and got ready to take a selfie video. At this point, the tractor was pulled back. While doing so he fell into a well there.
That well is 120 feet deep and the water in it was 35 feet. Farmworkers who witnessed the incident from a distance informed the police and the Fire and Rescue Services (TNFRS). Immediately, eight TNFRS personnel led by Station Fire Officer Vaniyambadi and Police Officer N Venkatesan took steps to retrieve the body. With the help of four motors, the water was pumped out.
“We had to work hard for four hours to get the boy’s body back. The water in the well had to be pumped out to remove the body and the tractor, ”Venkatesh said. The deceased Sanjeev had completed a course in catering and had recently joined a company in Chennai, his relatives said.
