Heavy rains have lashed Nepal for the past few days. Extreme levels of flood danger were announced. Rains and floods caused the cliffs to collapse, killing 16 people and leaving 22 dead. The home ministry said the dead included foreigners. The Home Ministry said heavy flooding had hit more than half of the districts and people in the affected areas were facing difficulties due to landslides.
He said that Kaliginia was not affected by the rains and floods and was currently focusing on helping the victims. Ministry spokesperson Janagaraj Dahal said the government was now focused on providing relief items to the victims. Aid teams are working to rescue victims trapped in the floodwaters. Sindhupalchok and Manang districts were hit by floods mainly due to melting snow on the mountains. Indravati said the water level in the Melamchi rivers had risen. Pillars and huge trees collapsed in several areas.
Hundreds of people die in landslides and floods in Nepal every year during the monsoon season. Due to heavy rains across the country, local government officials have issued notices. People were warned to stay safe. The Nepalese government has issued early warnings to people living near the river bank to evacuate to safer areas.
