Dalit Woman Lockup Death. CM KCR Key Directions:
Immediately investigation on who led to the death of Mariamma lock-up and according to the law to take harsh measures and if necessary, to remove them from the job, CM KCR ordered DGP Mahender Reddy. The CM clarified that the death of Mariamma Lockup, a Dalit woman from Madhira constituency in Khammam district, was extremely painful and the government would not tolerate such acts.
CM KCR Key Directions: CM KCR said the government would take care of the son and daughters of Mariamma who died in the incident. The KCR directed CS Somesh Kumar, to provide Rs.15 lakhs compensation along with a government job and a house to his son Uday Kiran and financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to Mariamma’s two daughters. The CM directed the DGP to go to Chintakani and find out the background of the lockup death incident and consult the victims.
CLP leader Madhira MLA Bhatti Vikramarka along with Congress MLAs Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, Jaggareddy, Congress SC cell chairman Pritam and others submitted a petition to this effect at Pragati Bhavan on Friday. The Chief Minister was outraged at the attitude of the police in the Mariamma lockup death incident. On the 28th, the CM directed local MLA Congress Legislative Party leader Bhatti Vikramarka to come together with local minister P. Ajay Kumar, MP Nama Nageswara Rao, District Collector, and SC affected families.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said, “Society needs to change its attitude towards Dalits. The mindset of the police in particular needs to be positive towards Dalits and the poor. In a state police system that is making qualitative progress in maintaining peace and security, it is said that such incidents take place. The government will not sit idly by if it gets its hands on the Dalits. Tough measures will be taken immediately. There should be no delay in prosecuting those responsible for this lockup death and taking strict action as per law. If necessary, he should be sacked, ”the Chief Minister directed DGP Mahender Reddy.
The meeting was attended by Home Minister Mahmood Ali, R&B Minister Vemula Prashant Reddy, Planning Commission Vice-Chairman B Vinod Kumar, CS Somesh Kumar, DGP Mahender Reddy, and Finance Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao.
