Dreams Mall Sunrise Hospital: Fire Accident in Covid-19 hospital in mumbai and Nine corona patients died

A fire broke out at covid-19 Hospital in Mumbai on Friday morning. Nine people have lost their lives so far in the accident. The fire broke out at the Dreams Mall Sunrise Hospital in Bhandup around 12.30 pm on Thursday, officials said. At the time of the accident, the hospital had 76 covid patients. Nine corona patients died and the rest were safely shifted to another hospital.

Upon receiving information about the accident, police and firefighters rushed to the scene and took relief measures. A total of 23 fire engines were used to put out the blaze. DCP Prashant Kadam said the fire was now under control. He said fires first broke out on level-3 or 4 on the first floor and then spread to the surrounding area. However, officials are shocked that the hospital is in a mall.

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar arrived at the scene and monitored the situation. Moreover, she expressed awe at the management of the hospital in the mall. She said this is the first time she has seen a hospital in a mall. Commented that this is a very serious matter, she mentioned the cause of the accident is still unknown and an investigation is underway. She said action would be taken against hospital administrators who were running contrary to the regulations.

Although the fire was brought under control at first, on Friday morning another fire broke out in the back of the hospital. Firefighters worked hard to stop them. A total of 70 patients were shifted to Mulund Jumbo Center and Fortis Hospital, BMC Additional Commissioner Suresh Kakani said.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has expressed deep regret over the accident and Apologized to the families of the dead. He stated that Strict action will be taken against those who are responsible. He said the hospital Management had to take responsibility for the corona victims. Compensation of Rs 5 lakh has been announced for the families of the deceased. The incident has sparked political outrage. Opposition parties are demanding the resignation from CM immediately. However, Sunrise management said that they have set up a hospital here as per the rules.
