Every day in every house, restaurant, hotel, good deeds, and in other events, a lot of food is wasted in the dinner meals. According to the United Nations Environment Programme Food Waste Index Report 2021, Every year an average of 50 kg of food was wasted by an Indian.
Recently, The latest report on the Food Waste Index was released according to it. In 2019, 931 million metric tons of food will be wasted worldwide. Homes, institutes, retail outlets, restaurants altogether, so much food is wasted. The report found that on average, a family wastes about 61 percent of their food every year.
In terms of food waste, India is slightly better than other Asian countries. Because we have 50 kg of wasted food. But in Bangladesh, a person wastes an average of 65 kg of food a year, while a Pakistani consumes 74 kg, 76 kg in Sri Lanka, 79 kg in Nepal, and 82 kg in Afghanistan. In this context, the United Nations has suggested that governments and NGOs have a responsibility to ensure that food is not wasted and that food is not wasted.
